About the Role

Guidant Financial is looking for a Retirement Plan Operations Specialist to begin a career in 401(k) plan administration. Through accelerated training and hands-on experience, you will learn the full process of administering, testing, and reporting on client retirement plans, growing from document review to managing basic plans.

What You'll Do

  • Work with clients to gather necessary information for annual plan reporting.
  • Review client-submitted documents for completeness and accuracy.
  • Reconcile plans involving rollovers and plan stock using Excel and administration software.
  • Utilize administration software to complete 401(k) testing and reporting.
  • Make outgoing reminder calls and send emails to clients during the annual reporting process.
  • Prepare required government filings, including the IRS Form 5500, using filing software.
  • Educate clients on the administration of their 401(k) plan and plan documents.
  • Share knowledge and explain complex topics in simple terms.
  • Train on core concepts required for a Retirement Plan Administrator I role.
  • Perform other duties as required.

  • Meticulous attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Skills in customer service, organization, and collaboration.
  • Adequate math and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work autonomously as a self-directed worker.
  • Ability to foster an inclusive workplace where everyone feels a sense of belonging.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Must meet work-from-home requirements.
  • Commitment to complete continuing education based on current certifications.

Nice to Have

  • An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a related field (business, finance) or equivalent work experience.
  • Basic knowledge of 401(k) plan structure, ROBS, and IRS/DOL Regulations.
