Role Summary
As a Retirement Plan Specialist, you'll dive deep into 401(k) plan administration. Through intensive training and hands-on experience, you'll quickly progress from document review to managing entire plan processes. You'll be the client's guide, reviewing submissions, tracking progress, and helping them navigate complex year-end reporting and government filings.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Collect client information for annual reporting
- Review client documents for accuracy and completeness
- Reconcile rollover and stock plans using Excel and admin software
- Perform 401(k) testing and reporting
- Follow up with clients via calls and emails during plan reporting
- Prepare IRS Form 5500 and other required government filings
- Educate clients on 401(k) plan administration
Extra Tasks
- Break down complex topics into simple explanations
- Train for Retirement Plan Administrator I certification
- Handle additional responsibilities as needed
Requirements
- 18+ years old
- Strong verbal and written communication
- Detail-oriented with proactive problem-solving skills
- Customer service, organization, and teamwork skills
- Basic math and analytical abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Associate's or bachelor's in business, finance, or equivalent experience preferred
- Basic understanding of 401(K) structures, ROBS, and IRS/DOL regulations a plus
- Ability to work independently and self-direct
