Responsibilities
- Perform Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs) including spirometry, lung volumes, and diffusion studies.
- Assess and monitor patients with asthma, COPD, sleep apnea, and other respiratory disorders.
- Support oxygen therapy assessments and education.
- Educate patients on inhaler techniques, oxygen use and respiratory care plans.
- Monitor adherence to respiratory therapies and provide follow-up support.
- Develop individualized respiratory care plans in collaboration with the care team.
- Work closely with family physicians, specialists, and allied health staff.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR.
- Participate in case reviews and quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain and calibrate respiratory diagnostic equipment.
- Support inventory management for respiratory and sleep therapy supplies.
Requirements
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) in good standing with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario (CRTO)
- Current BCLS certification
- Experience with pulmonary function testing
- Strong patient education and communication skills
- Proficient with EMR systems
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Nice to Have
- Experience in outpatient or clinic-based respiratory care
- COPD, asthma education, and chronic disease management
- Experience working with patients in-home
