Woodwell Climate Research Center is seeking a Research Scientist I to join its Risk team. You will conduct original research on near-term future impacts and risks at the intersection of climate change and international security, developing bespoke assessments and collaborating with partners to understand downstream societal consequences. We are a top-ranked, independent non-profit institute conducting science for solutions at the nexus of climate, people, and nature.
What You'll Do
- Work with decision-makers and external partners including national security think tanks, community leaders, businesses, asset management companies, and environmental NGOs.
- Use domain knowledge expertise to enhance analytical bandwidth across a broad catalog of climate perils such as flood, famines, hurricanes, heat stress, sea level rise, and wildfire risk.
- Research and model past, present, and future physical and societal climate change impacts.
- Process and analyze multi-temporal geospatial data, primarily climate model output and observations.
- Present details and consequences to policymakers, the public, and in academic journals.
- Communicate research results to policymakers and the public, including publication in peer-reviewed literature.
- Select or assist in the selection of research topics or support a program under the direction of a supervisor.
- Successfully manage multiple projects.
- Assume project management responsibilities delegated by supervisor.
