Vertex is hiring a HEOR Modeling Director (Remote-Eligible)

About the Role

As a Director in the HEOR Modeling Center of Excellence, you will shape the strategic vision for health economic modeling across one or more therapeutic areas. You will lead the design and execution of cost-effectiveness and budget impact models that support global market access, reimbursement strategies, and health technology assessment (HTA) submissions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define modeling strategy for pipeline and marketed products, aligning with global value dossiers and evidence generation plans
  • Lead end-to-end development of economic models, including hands-on programming and validation
  • Oversee and quality-check modeling work performed by external vendors
  • Train regional teams and support local adaptation of models for country-specific submissions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to inform study design and interpret real-world evidence relevant to modeling inputs
  • Advise on pricing and reimbursement negotiations with health authorities
  • Present modeling insights at scientific meetings and contribute to peer-reviewed publications
  • Provide expert guidance to internal stakeholders on the interpretation and application of HEOR data

Qualifications

Candidates must hold an advanced degree in health economics, epidemiology, statistics, economics, or a related quantitative field. A minimum of 10 years of experience in health economics and outcomes research is expected, with deep expertise in building and validating economic models. Strong analytical, communication, and leadership abilities are essential.

Management experience and a proven track record in supporting HTA submissions and reimbursement dossiers are highly preferred. The ideal candidate thrives in complex, collaborative environments and can translate technical modeling concepts into strategic business insights.

Compensation and Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary range of $204,000 to $306,000, annual equity awards, and an annual bonus. Additional benefits include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage; generous paid time off; educational assistance with student loan repayment; 401(k) matching; and a commuter subsidy. The company observes week-long closures in summer and winter. Eligible employees may receive overtime pay in accordance with applicable regulations.

Work Flexibility

This role supports remote work with full flexibility—up to five days per week remotely—or a hybrid or on-site schedule. Occasional office visits may be required based on team or project needs.
