The National University of Singapore is hiring a Research Assistant to join the Neurobiology Research Programme at the Life Sciences Institute. You will support research on the molecular mechanisms underlying human neurodegenerative diseases within a multidisciplinary environment led by Professor Rickie Patani.
What You'll Do
- Conduct molecular and cellular biology experiments investigating mechanisms of neurodegeneration.
- Assist in studies examining RNA processing mechanisms, including intron retention, in neuronal health and disease.
- Perform experiments using human stem cell-derived neuronal models and other cellular systems.
- Support experimental work related to neuronal cell biology, including cell culture, molecular assays, and imaging.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of experimental models relevant to neurodegenerative diseases.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data using appropriate statistical and bioinformatics tools.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and ensure compliance with laboratory safety and research protocols.
- Contribute to preparation of research reports, publications, and grant applications.
- Assist in general laboratory management, including ordering reagents, maintaining equipment, and coordinating shared resources.
- Collaborate with researchers across the Neurobiology Programme and affiliated research groups.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience, Molecular Biology, Life Sciences, Biochemistry, or a related discipline.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
- Good communication skills and willingness to contribute to scientific publications.
Nice to Have
- Prior laboratory experience in molecular or cellular biology techniques.
- Experience in RNA biology or transcriptomics.
- Experience in stem cell culture or neuronal differentiation.
- Experience in neurodegenerative disease models.
- Experience in imaging or bioinformatics analysis.
