NCS is looking for Medical Laboratory Scientists and Medical Laboratory Technologists to join the clinical microbiology lab at Singapore General Hospital (SGH). This team plays a key role in the laboratory diagnosis of infectious diseases, supporting patient care and public health.
What You'll Do
- Perform laboratory tests, assist in preparing various types of media, and receive and process specimens.
- Carry out specialised investigations of patient samples.
- Perform on-going quality control checks to ensure test results are precise and accurate.
- Lead a section which focuses on bacterial genomics, with results contributing to the understanding of disease processes, infection prevention and control, and public health.
- Mentor and coach junior staff.
- Assist in establishing, implementing and updating departmental policies and procedures.

- Able to work rotating shifts.
Nice to Have
- A PhD in a relevant discipline (biomedical science, bioinformatics, computational biology, data science or related field).
- A Masters in a relevant discipline with a minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience.
- A Degree in Biomedical Science, Biological Science, Medical Technology or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.
- Proficiency in scripting and statistical language (e.g., Perl, Python, R, particularly in the use of packages such as biopython).
- Prior experience in wet lab and bioinformatics analysis of human/microbial genomes or metagenomics.
- Knowledge in high performance computing (HPC) and cloud computing.
