The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is hiring a Laboratory Sciences Professional at the Intermediate or Senior level for the Mosimann research laboratory. In this role, you will apply molecular, biochemical, genetic, imaging, and computational approaches to study heart, blood, and blood vessel formation using zebrafish as the primary model.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate with and support Principal Investigators and other stakeholders with laboratory and research functions.
- Utilize a variety of laboratory techniques required for research projects.
- Perform experiments and tabulate and analyze research data.
- Support the analytical testing process, including sample preservation, preparation, documentation, and communication of results.
- Execute pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical test processes and evaluate the outcomes.
- Prepare the lab for daily operations, including stocking materials, equipment, and ensuring safety and cleanliness.
- Provide animal care related to research studies as necessary.
- Transport and maintain results, samples, documents, and materials.
- Dispose of laboratory materials and samples following established guidelines.
- Review, complete, and process logs, documents, and databases.
- Research issues and develop recommendations to resolve process-related challenges.
- Assist in reviewing and implementing lab support policies and practices.
- Assist with ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Independently and creatively identify laboratory solutions.
- Independently review, develop, and implement new or modified laboratory techniques for research projects.
What We're Looking For
- Experience collaborating with and supporting Principal Investigators in a research environment.
- Proficiency in a variety of standard laboratory techniques and analytical processes.
- Ability to perform experiments, analyze data, and maintain detailed documentation.
- Experience with lab operations management, including material stocking and safety protocols.
- Experience with animal care related to research studies.
- Strong organizational skills for handling samples, documents, and lab logistics.
- Knowledge of proper laboratory waste disposal procedures.
- Ability to review and implement lab policies and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Demonstrated ability to independently identify solutions and develop or modify laboratory techniques.

- Molecular biology techniques: PCR, subcloning, gel electrophoresis

You will work closely with graduate students and postdoctoral fellows to support their projects while also having the opportunity to pursue individual lines of research.
