We are seeking experienced freelance professionals to serve as Resident Experts for remote sensing satellite programs. In this role, you will be embedded at manufacturer facilities across Europe, providing on-site supervision of payload and system development for Earth observation missions. Your expertise will ensure technical integrity throughout the design, assembly, integration, and testing phases.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily progress of remote sensing payload and satellite system development, verifying alignment with technical specifications and program requirements
- Identify potential technical or schedule risks early and recommend corrective actions
- Lead and contribute to critical milestone reviews, including design reviews, integration phases, and in-orbit test campaigns
- Support calibration and validation activities following launch to ensure data quality and instrument performance
- Act as a technical liaison between engineering teams and program leadership, delivering regular updates and status reports
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a master’s degree in telecommunications, aerospace, remote sensing, or a related field. A minimum of 15 years of hands-on engineering experience in remote sensing systems—specifically Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) or Electro-Optical (EO) instruments—is required. Deep technical knowledge of payload design and performance verification is essential.
Experience with satellite-level system engineering and mission operations is highly valued and complements the core payload expertise. Candidates should be comfortable working independently at industrial sites and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across technical and programmatic domains.
