About the Role
This position offers immediate, flexible counseling support to young people facing homelessness, stepping in as needed to maintain continuity of care and ensure a safe, supportive environment.
Responsibilities
- Deliver crisis intervention and emotional support to youth in unstable living situations
- Conduct intake assessments for new program participants
- Assist in developing individualized service plans
- Monitor participant behavior and document changes
- Respond to emergencies during shifts
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols across facilities
- Collaborate with case management teams to support client goals
- Transport youth to appointments or services when necessary
- Facilitate group check-ins or wellness activities
- Maintain accurate client records in compliance with confidentiality standards
- Connect youth with housing, medical, and mental health resources
- Model healthy communication and conflict resolution
- Uphold program rules and behavioral expectations
- Escalate complex cases to clinical supervisors
- Participate in on-call rotations outside standard hours
- Attend team meetings and trainings as scheduled
- Support de-escalation efforts during behavioral crises
- Promote a trauma-informed environment
- Assist with overnight supervision when assigned
- Engage youth in goal-setting conversations
- Encourage participation in educational and vocational programs
- Report safeguarding concerns promptly
- Coordinate with external agencies for service referrals
- Maintain clean and safe communal spaces
- Follow emergency preparedness procedures
Compensation
Hourly rate commensurate with experience; eligible for pro-rated benefits based on hours worked
Work Arrangement
Part-time, on-call with variable shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
Team
Integrated within a multidisciplinary youth services team providing housing and support programs
