MyFlorida’s Department of Management Services is hiring a Registered Nursing Consultant for the Florida Department of Health in Duval County. This supervisory role combines professional nursing services with clinical staff management, ensuring high-quality patient care and adherence to protocols.
What You'll Do
- Spend the majority of your time on supervisory duties, including communicating with, motivating, training, evaluating, planning, and directing employees' work.
- Hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees or effectively recommend such action.
- Develop performance expectations, meet with staff regularly to discuss performance, complete reviews, and maintain schedules.
- Provide professional nursing services in the care and treatment of women’s health, family planning, and/or pediatric patients.
- Provide oversight of the immunization program and staff.
- Accurately apply nursing principles and techniques in direct care, make assessments, and document patient health status.
- Assess, treat, evaluate, and provide health education and follow-up with appropriate cultural competence.
- Assist providers in clinic sessions, interpret and implement orders and recommendations.
- Complete and follow up on referrals, accurately documenting all clinically relevant information.
- Provide exemplary customer service during telephone and walk-in triage.
- Obtain vital signs and medical histories; perform simple laboratory procedures like finger sticks and heel sticks.
- Maintain inventory of medical supplies and medications; prepare examination/treatment rooms and equipment.
- Occasionally provide vaccines, perform FLSHOTS data entry, and maintain inventory.
- Promote cooperation within the agency and externally by maintaining positive relationships with all staff and partners.
- Develop and maintain an interdisciplinary team approach to patient care and case management.
- Participate in quality improvement activities, including the peer review process.
- Provide oversight of all clinical functions and serve as a resource/expert for nursing functions in your assigned clinic.
- Act as a liaison between administration and health center staff for disseminating nursing policy and practice information.
- Ensure adherence to nursing protocol policies.
- Assist in hiring and retaining competent clinical staff.
- Ensure clinical staff is trained and an orientation checklist is completed within 90 days of hire.
- Participate in staff development programs for persons assisting with client care.
- Oversee the work activities of ancillary personnel.
- Provide assessments and evaluations of clinical staff performance to the Medical Director.
- Promote professional leadership and growth.
- Ensure timely completion of all mandatory training.
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of Employee Leave and Attendance Records and Employee Activity Records (EARs).
- Provide services as required during disasters.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Current Florida Driver’s License.
- Current Florida Nursing License.

This role reports directly to the Assistant Community Health Nursing Director. You will provide oversight of clinical staff and clinical functions.
Benefits & Compensation
- Salary: $75,050 - $82,950
