About the Role

Nicklaus Children's Hospital is looking for a Registered Nurse to deliver compassionate, patient and family centered care for children with a variety of medical needs. In this role, you will provide specialty nursing care, assess complex conditions, and foster a collaborative multidisciplinary approach to treatment.

What You'll Do

  • Complete comprehensive multi-system patient assessments, including neurological, respiratory, head-to-toe, vitals, and oxygen saturation.
  • Review admissions, obtain medical history, and accurately complete the admission process per hospital policy.
  • Prepare patients for transfer and communicate condition, history, and progress clearly to receiving staff.
  • Assist the medical team with procedures such as tracheostomy suctioning, monitoring chest tubes, IVs, and ventilator settings.
  • Communicate patient progress, critical findings, and changes in condition promptly to physicians and involved disciplines.
  • Plan, implement, and document the plan of care in collaboration with other services to ensure safe, efficient care.
  • Prepare discharge planning and complete the process according to department and hospital policies.
  • Follow physician’s orders, administer medications as directed, and adhere to the six rights of medication administration.
  • Provide thorough patient information and complete effective hand-offs during shift changes and patient reassignments.
  • Collaborate and round with a multi-disciplinary team in daily care planning and foster a Family Centered Care environment.
  • Access the electronic health record independently and complete accurate, timely documentation.
  • Educate patients and families on illness, injury, post-treatment home care, medication, pain management, discharge, and safety.
  • Promote an 'error free' environment by performing thorough hand-offs and adhering to infection prevention measures.
  • Assess all body systems and ensure safe, effective care delivery with emphasis on avoiding medication errors, falls, procedural pain, and reducing pain.

What We're Looking For

  • Registered Nurse (RN) Licensure within the State of Florida or a Multi-State Enhanced Nursing License Compact (eNLC) – must maintain active and in good standing throughout employment.
  • American Heart Association BLS certification – must maintain active and in good standing throughout employment.
  • American Heart Association PALS certification – must obtain and maintain active and in good standing within 2 years of employment.

Nice to Have

  • Nursing experience in a Pediatric healthcare setting.
  • A BSN Degree or current enrollment in a BSN program.
  • Career Development: National certification, preferably obtained within 5 years of hire.

Technical Stack

  • Electronic health record systems.

Team & Environment

Practices under the supervision of the Nursing Manager/Director.

Work Mode

This position requires full-time onsite work at the hospital.
