Duke University is hiring a Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery to join our health system. This role plans and provides professional nursing care for patients in accordance with medical plans and established policies. You will provide nursing services as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing within a Magnet-designated organization committed to compassionate, life-changing care.
What You'll Do
- Plan, provide, and document professional nursing care utilizing the nursing process in accordance with physician orders and established procedures.
- Delegate tasks and supervise the activities of other licensed and unlicensed care providers.
- Assist other healthcare personnel in the delivery of patient care.
- Participate in maintaining the environment of care, including equipment and material resources.
- Prioritize work organization and identify available resources to complete care components in a timely manner.
- Participate in your professional development by maintaining required competencies and seeking appropriate assistance.
- Support the development of other staff and formal learners.
- Participate in identifying clinical or operational performance improvement opportunities and assist in related activities.
What We're Looking For
- Graduation from an accredited BSN program (with exceptions for RNs hired before specific dates).
- Current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina.
- BLS certification required.
- All CNIs must enroll in and complete the DUHS Nurse Residency Program within 12 months of hire.
- CNIs must meet criteria set forth by the DUHS Nurse Residency Program within 18 months of hire for promotion to CNII.
- Pre-employment Physical Capacity Testing required.
