Responsibilities
- Conducts and reviews technical evaluations to support economic assessments of the transmission system.
- Performs studies on generation interconnections, power flow, transient stability, and regional capacity needs.
- Recommends transmission projects and mitigation strategies as needed.
- Executes long-term planning studies and develops annual transmission plans with transmission owners and stakeholders.
- Applies established business practices for transmission and generation interconnection planning.
- Self-verifies compliance with all NERC standards relevant to planning coordination.
- Identifies and resolves current and potential engineering challenges.
- May suggest solutions beyond immediate scope of assigned duties.
- Engages in path rating and contingency evaluations, including stability and fault analyses, to ensure grid reliability.
- Provides continuous technical support and guidance to internal teams and departments.
- Supplies critical grid and control area data to internal leadership and external organizations.
- May collect, evaluate, and submit reports in accordance with regulatory and industry standards.
- Represents the organization in regional councils, committees, and industry forums such as WECC.
- May offer foundational training and mentorship to junior engineers.
