About the Role
The engineer will assess transmission system performance, conduct planning studies, and support integration of new generation resources while ensuring adherence to reliability standards and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate performance of regional transmission systems
- Conduct power flow and stability studies
- Support integration of renewable energy projects
- Identify necessary transmission upgrades
- Collaborate with stakeholders on grid planning
- Ensure compliance with NERC and WECC standards
- Prepare technical reports and documentation
- Model system changes using engineering software
- Assist in long-term transmission planning
- Participate in interconnection studies
- Review generator and transmission project proposals
- Analyze potential impacts of new developments
- Coordinate with regional partners and utilities
- Support reliability assessments and risk analysis
- Maintain accurate system data and models
- Respond to operational planning inquiries
- Contribute to regional planning initiatives
- Evaluate transmission constraints and bottlenecks
- Support development of system expansion plans
- Engage in technical working groups
- Monitor changes in regulatory requirements
- Provide input on policy development
- Assist in emergency preparedness planning
- Support cybersecurity standards for grid systems
- Promote best practices in transmission planning
