Role Overview
This position provides advanced technical support for KLA’s Film and Scatterometry Technology (FaST) metrology systems, enabling customers to achieve optimal performance in semiconductor process development. The engineer acts as a key technical liaison between internal engineering, sales, and marketing teams, as well as external customer sites, ensuring seamless product integration and issue resolution.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead new product introduction initiatives, including characterization, alpha and beta testing, and pilot tool support during ramp-up phases
- Support field teams by leading remote and on-site troubleshooting efforts for complex technical escalations
- Design and execute experiments to evaluate tool and subcomponent performance, developing precise optical models and application recipes
- Deliver technical training and application guidance to customers and field application teams
- Create and maintain best known methods (BKM), documentation, and knowledge transfer materials
- Collaborate with customers to solve advanced process challenges and contribute findings through technical publications
- Coordinate and conduct in-house demonstrations and head-to-head evaluations at customer locations
Qualifications
Applicants must hold an MS or PhD in Engineering, Physics, Optics, Materials Science, or a related discipline, with a solid foundation in technical problem-solving. Strong communication, leadership, and organizational abilities are essential, along with a self-motivated approach and proven teamwork skills. The role requires more than 50% travel to support global customer and internal team needs.
Prior experience in semiconductor processing or capital equipment is preferred. The ideal candidate thrives in a technically demanding environment and is driven by solving complex, real-world engineering challenges.
