About the Role
The selected candidate will lead engineering efforts related to refueling processes and remote handling equipment, providing technical expertise during design, testing, and operational phases of nuclear systems.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and validation of refueling procedures for nuclear reactor systems.
- Design and evaluate remote handling tools and equipment used in high-radiation environments.
- Perform engineering analyses to support safe and efficient fuel movement operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on integration of refueling systems.
- Ensure compliance with nuclear safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Develop technical documentation for operations, maintenance, and licensing.
- Support testing and commissioning of refueling and handling equipment.
- Conduct failure mode assessments and risk evaluations for handling systems.
- Provide engineering input during design reviews and safety audits.
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to fuel handling mechanisms.
- Maintain awareness of industry advancements in remote operations technology.
- Interface with vendors and contractors on equipment specifications.
- Prepare calculations and simulations to verify system performance.
- Assist in the development of training materials for operations personnel.
- Participate in hazard analyses and safety assessments for refueling activities.
- Ensure designs meet quality assurance and nuclear-grade standards.
- Support licensing efforts with technical justifications and safety analyses.
- Monitor project timelines and deliverables related to refueling systems.
- Apply lessons learned from operational experience to design improvements.
