About the Role
The engineer will support the development, analysis, and deployment of refueling and remote handling systems, providing technical expertise during design, construction, and operational phases of nuclear modules.
Responsibilities
- Design and evaluate refueling equipment and remote handling systems
- Perform engineering analyses to support system reliability and safety
- Develop technical specifications and procurement documentation
- Support integration of handling systems within plant layouts
- Conduct failure mode and operability assessments
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on system design improvements
- Ensure compliance with nuclear safety and regulatory standards
- Participate in design reviews and technical audits
- Provide on-site support during refueling outages
- Troubleshoot equipment performance issues
- Maintain documentation for engineering processes and procedures
- Assist in the development of operational protocols
- Evaluate new technologies for remote operations
- Support licensing and regulatory submissions
- Monitor system performance and recommend upgrades
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors
- Apply industry codes and standards to design activities
- Lead root cause analyses for system anomalies
- Develop test plans for equipment validation
- Train operations personnel on handling systems
Nice to Have
- Master's degree in engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Experience with small modular reactor designs
- Background in robotics or automated systems
- Experience in nuclear outage planning
- Knowledge of digital twin or simulation platforms
- Leadership experience in engineering projects
- Experience with configuration management systems
- Familiarity with agile engineering methodologies
- Published technical papers or patents
