Mass General Brigham is looking for a Referral Specialist, Multispecialty to join our team. You will be responsible for ensuring third-party payer referral requirements are met, coordinating specialty care for patients. This is a full-time hybrid role, requiring 2 days per week on-site and 3 days remote after a 90-day onsite onboarding and training period.
What You'll Do
- Receive and process specialty referral orders from providers or patients using the electronic health record.
- Ensure timely coordination of specialty care for patients.
- Verify insurance policy benefit information and obtain authorization or pre-certification prior to patient visits.
- Communicate patient and referral information to patients, third-party payers, specialists, and other healthcare providers.
- Provide guidance to patients and providers on referral process requirements.
- Assist providers in obtaining necessary information, including diagnosis codes and pricing.
- Document all referral processing steps and interactions in the electronic health record system.
- Follow up on pending referrals and work to obtain progress notes from specialists.
- Maintain departmental policies, procedures, confidentiality, and quality standards.
- Maintain professional growth through seminars, workshops, and other educational activities.
- Meet annual competency and retraining requirements.
- Attend required meetings.
- Perform other duties as requested.

- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- 3-5 years of scheduling experience in an administrative medical office setting
- Strong communication and organization skills
