About the Role
This role involves leading and organizing recreational activities for campers at a summer camp located outside San Francisco, ensuring a safe and engaging environment through structured programming and supervision.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise recreational programs for children and families
- Deliver age-appropriate outdoor activities and games
- Ensure participant safety during all scheduled events
- Assist in planning daily activity schedules
- Support campers with diverse needs and abilities
- Maintain equipment and activity supplies
- Respond to emergencies using established protocols
- Promote inclusive and respectful interactions
- Follow camp policies and operational guidelines
- Communicate effectively with staff and supervisors
- Participate in staff training and meetings
- Uphold health and sanitation standards
- Manage group dynamics during activities
- Transport materials and supplies as needed
- Complete incident reports when required
- Adhere to behavioral expectations for staff
- Assist with mealtime supervision
- Support overnight camp operations
- Encourage environmental awareness and stewardship
- Maintain accurate attendance records
- Report maintenance or safety concerns
- Model positive interpersonal conduct
- Follow check-in and check-out procedures
- Assist with special events and themed programming
- Work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
Compensation
Hourly rate commensurate with experience; pay rate determined by the City and County of San Francisco classification system
Work Arrangement
Seasonal, as-needed basis with potential for on-call shifts; includes work outside regular business hours and overnight stays
Team
Part of a seasonal recreation staff team operating in a remote outdoor camp environment
Work Location
Position is based at Camp Mather, located outside San Francisco; requires travel to and from the site as needed
