Virtuos China Limited is hiring an R&D Lead Programmer to join our R&D Game Division in Montpellier. In this role, you will lead a small team of programmers through the full R&D process for innovative game development technologies and tools, using Agile methodology to define objectives and drive results.
What You'll Do
- Lead a small team of programmers, reporting to the R&D Director and collaborating with the Product Manager.
- Define team objectives using Agile methodology.
- Manage the full R&D process, including preliminary study, prototyping, architectural design, development, and support of innovative technologies and tools for game production and engines on PC and next-gen consoles.
- Be responsible for the training and career development of team members.
- Evaluate risks and propose solutions with the Technical Director and Product Manager.
- Actively participate in development alongside team members.
- Share your experience with team members.
What We're Looking For
- At least 5 years of experience as a programmer or lead programmer.
- First experience in the video game industry.
- Excellent command of C++.
- Mastery of at least a second and knowledge of a third domain among: engine programming, multithreading, optimizations; graphics programming (Direct X 11 or 12, Open GL or Vulkan, PBR rendering); Unreal Engine 5; tool programming in C#; client-server architecture in ASP.NET; Python, use of LLM, MCP.
- Good knowledge of mathematics, particularly linear algebra.
- Enjoy solving complex problems and implementing solutions.
- Comfortable in English, both written and spoken.
- Very good communication skills in French and English.
