MD Anderson Cancer Center is looking for a Radiation Therapist to play a vital role in the fight against cancer. In this position, you will deliver precision radiation therapy, ensuring safe, accurate treatment while providing exceptional patient-centered care.
What You'll Do
- Administer safe and accurate radiation therapy treatment, ensuring precise delivery and data capture.
- Prepare treatment rooms, gather set-up aids, and set appropriate treatment unit parameters.
- Maintain detailed treatment and simulation records, monitoring daily logs and machine quality assurance.
- Visually monitor patients for unusual reactions and report them to the radiation oncologist.
- Explain treatment procedures to patients and families, answering questions and reinforcing medical advice.
- Perform and maintain all mandatory Quality Assurance activities and documentation.
- Verify that consent forms are signed and present in the treatment record before beginning therapy.
- Accurately check prescriptions, set-up instructions, and patient information for any discrepancies.
- Maintain clinical competencies, including performing calculations and staying current with new techniques.
- Participate in clinical instruction and evaluation, sharing knowledge with students and peers.
- Adapt your schedule and work area as patient load dictates and attend planning clinics as assigned.
- Notify physics or engineering staff immediately if measurements fall outside accepted parameters.
