The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) seeks a board-certified music therapist for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Music Therapy appointment, intended to begin August 15, 2026. The faculty member will develop and deliver a new Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy curriculum in partnership with the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.
What You'll Do
- Teach undergraduate classes in Music Therapy.
- Lead visioning, strategic planning, and development of a new Music Therapy program. Lead continued vision to maintain and grow the program, including the possible addition of a graduate curriculum.
- Assist with the preparation of materials for plan approval to all relevant committees, agencies, and accreditors.
- Collaborate with UC’s College of Medicine and the Osher Center for Integrative Health to develop joint music therapy initiatives, research, and programming.
- Recruit and retain students of exceptional promise.
- Contribute to community and outreach programs as part of CCM’s broader educational and cultural mission.
- Maintain robust regional, national, and international visibility through research, publications, presentations, and professional engagement.
- Serve the college and university community through activities such as committee membership, academic advising, and mentorship of students.
What We're Looking For
- Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) with a minimum of a Master's Degree in Music Therapy.
- Minimum of three (3) academic years of professional experience in music therapy, including supervisory, academic, and/or program leadership roles.
- Demonstrated experience designing and facilitating music therapy-informed programs across clinical and/or community health settings.
- Must be eligible to stand for licensure as a music therapist in the State of Ohio.
Nice to Have
- An earned doctorate in Music Therapy or a closely related field.
- Five (5) academic years of professional experience in music therapy, including supervisory, academic, and/or program leadership roles.
- Demonstrated experience developing and teaching curricula at the undergraduate or graduate level.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively across disciplines with healthcare providers, academic faculty, students, and community organizations.
Team & Environment
Will work with a faculty member in the College of Medicine.
