About the Role
This role is responsible for overseeing accounting functions related to property operations, including financial reporting, budgeting support, and lease administration, while collaborating with asset and property management teams.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate general ledger accounts for assigned properties
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Reconcile property-level bank statements and balance sheet accounts
- Review and process property operating expenses
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts
- Track and report on lease terms and rent roll data
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal policies
- Coordinate with property managers to resolve financial discrepancies
- Support audits by providing timely and accurate documentation
- Monitor accounts payable and receivable for property operations
- Analyze variances between budget and actual results
- Prepare journal entries and month-end close activities
- Manage property tax accruals and related reporting
- Track depreciation and fixed asset records
- Collaborate with external partners on financial reporting needs
- Maintain internal controls over financial processes
- Provide financial insights to support operational decisions
- Assist in onboarding new properties into accounting systems
- Ensure timely submission of financial packages to stakeholders
- Stay current with changes in accounting regulations affecting real estate
Nice to Have
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential
- Experience with real estate investment trusts (REITs)
- Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables and formulas
- Experience with Yardi, MRI, or similar platforms
- Background in multi-family or commercial real estate
