About the Role

PCL Construction is looking for a Project Manager to lead and support complex civil infrastructure projects in the water/wastewater, concrete, and heavy civil sectors for our Phoenix, Arizona operations. You will coordinate teams, schedules, and resources to successfully deliver critical infrastructure projects.

What You'll Do

  • Provide overall contract administration, technical expertise, and support for a large or complex construction project.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of the project safety plan and create a strong safety culture on site.
  • Oversee total construction to ensure the project is built as per design, budget, resources, quality, and schedule.
  • Understand client drivers and offer value engineering proposals for functionality, cost, and schedule benefit.
  • Account for project performance and review status reports for safety, cost forecast, and schedule.
  • Negotiate and issue subcontracts, major purchase orders, and progress payments, monitoring their progress.
  • Understand, communicate, and proactively manage the contract and contract documents.
  • Develop and coordinate overall project commissioning and closeout.
  • Identify and manage risk and opportunities on construction projects.
  • Supervise, direct, coach, train, and mentor the project team including direct and indirect reports.
  • For design build deliveries: Monitor design progress for compliance, quality, coordination, constructability, and timing.
  • For design build deliveries: Obtain a comprehensive design-management plan and conduct periodic quality audits.
  • For design build deliveries: Keep all parties informed of opportunities and challenges, managing stakeholder expectations.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • 10-15 years of progressive construction experience.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing a strong safety culture by application of health, safety, and environment principles.
  • In-depth knowledge of the construction industry including diverse project types, building materials, specifications, methods, construction law, building codes, and safety/quality management.
  • Superior planning, organizational, and time management skills including the ability to manage project budgets, risks, resources and schedules.
  • Ability to monitor and forecast project resources and staffing.
  • Ability to identify and manage risk and opportunities on construction projects.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders and decision makers.
  • Experience in leading a team, construction project facets and trade performance.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, project management and scheduling software, with a strong aptitude for adopting new technology.
