The Project Implementation Officer will play a key role in advancing maternal health outcomes under the Maternal Anemia Project in Meghalaya. This position focuses on reducing moderate and severe anemia among pregnant and lactating women through coordinated action at the district level. The officer will collaborate with state and district health authorities to design and execute project strategies, ensuring alignment with government priorities and public health frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead implementation of project initiatives in assigned districts, working in close partnership with government officials and local stakeholders.
- Support timely delivery of project outputs, including training healthcare workers and strengthening anemia-related interventions under Anemia Mukt Bharat.
- Secure required approvals from relevant government bodies to enable smooth project execution.
- Conduct regular field visits and coordination meetings with healthcare providers, community representatives, and program partners to monitor technical progress.
- Build capacity among district teams in maternal anemia management, data collection, quality assurance, and reporting practices.
- Maintain accurate records, generate periodic reports, and document case studies and best practices.
- Manage program data using MS Office tools, ensuring database integrity and supporting analysis for decision-making.
- Model organizational values centered on equity, accountability, and inclusive teamwork.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to meet project goals.
Qualifications and Skills
Candidates must hold a postgraduate degree in Public Health, Social Work, or a related field from a recognized institution. A minimum of three years of experience in public health project implementation and training is required. Demonstrated ability in managing data using MS Office, producing clear technical reports, and communicating effectively with diverse audiences is essential. Fluency in English and Hindi—both written and spoken—is mandatory. Familiarity with India’s public health system and experience working under deadline pressure are critical. The role demands strong organizational abilities, independence in task management, and adaptability to shifting priorities.
Preference will be given to candidates with 1–2 years of experience in maternal and child health or anemia-focused programs. Prior engagement with state or district health officials, experience in the development sector or international NGOs, and knowledge of local languages such as Khasi, Garo, or Pnar are considered advantageous.

This is an onsite position based in districts across Meghalaya, with up to 60% travel required within the region.
