APAC Mississippi, Inc., a CRH company, is hiring a Project Engineer to contribute to the improvement of plant overhauls and capital projects. At our company, people are our first priority, and we stand together to reinvent the way our world is built.
What You'll Do
- Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
- Monitor project budgets, schedules, and work quality.
- Perform field inspections by visiting job sites regularly and for extended periods, reporting on progress.
- Assist in developing plant project construction, start-up, and maintenance procedures and training for new systems.
- Understand contract requirements, negotiation, building codes, inspection procedures, process methods, and plant electrical needs.
- Coordinate construction inspection and testing activities, identifying and rectifying deficiencies.
- Assist in developing standard specifications for construction projects and contract documents.
- Ensure assigned contractors conform to required health and safety procedures.
- Evaluate and review third-party engineering designs, quotes, and drawings for accuracy.
- Assist in developing and implementing training for standard software packages used in project management.
- Contribute to feasibility studies.
- Interact with both construction workers and upper management.
- Negotiate commercial, construction, and technical disputes effectively.
- Participate in professional associations such as IEEE, PCA, and ACI.
What We're Looking For
- Ability to read, write, and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical, electrical, civil, mining, Electronic Instrumentation and Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience managing projects in heavy construction and/or the process industry.
- Proficient in English written, verbal communication, and listening skills.
- Ability to effectively negotiate.
- Ability to apply mathematical methods to solve a variety of engineering problems.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and other relevant software.
- Ability to apply building codes and understand the permitting process.
- Ability to make sound independent judgments regularly.
- Ability to work from general supervision with specified practices and policies, referring to a supervisor only when in doubt.
- Willingness for domestic travel up to 75%.
Nice to Have
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
