A leading renewable energy developer and independent power producer specializing in utility-scale solar and energy storage facilities across the United States is seeking a skilled Project Engineer for High-Voltage/Substation projects. With an expansive portfolio spanning 23 states and significant operational capacity, the organization is experiencing substantial growth and seeks talented professionals to drive innovation. ABOUT THE ROLE The Project Engineer, HV/Substation will provide technical expertise and performance analysis for solar and energy storage project deliverables throughout development, design, construction, and operational phases. This role requires collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to serve as a subject matter expert on technical aspects including substation design, high-voltage equipment, and electrical systems. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Evaluate and recommend equipment specifications to suppliers and internal procurement teams - Contribute to independent engineering and financial due diligence processes - Provide owner's engineering review and approval across project design stages - Assess emerging technologies and design methodologies for renewable energy projects - Conduct technical reviews and risk assessments for critical project contracts - Coordinate pre-construction and construction engineering activities - Interface directly with interconnection providers to ensure transmission requirements - Support commissioning processes and testing coordination - Ensure compliance with industry codes and technical standards - Create conceptual system designs and site layouts - Drive technical specifications and contractor oversight - Perform value engineering analysis - Collaborate cross-functionally - Maintain project excellence - Demonstrate organizational core values MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS - Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering - 3+ years high-voltage/substation engineering experience - Microsoft Office proficiency - Technical expertise in equipment specifications - Proficiency in protection/control design - Knowledge of power system modeling - Understanding of grid integration requirements - SCADA controls comprehension - Strong communication and organizational skills - 15-25% travel expected BENEFITS - Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage - Hybrid work environment - HSA and FSA plans - Employee assistance program - Retirement plan with employer match - Life insurance options - Paid time off - Incentive compensation An equal opportunity employer committed to workforce diversity and inclusive hiring practices.
