About the Role

PCL Construction / PCL Industrial Services, Inc. is looking for a Project Controls Coordinator to join our team in Abilene, Texas. In this onsite role, you will be instrumental in supporting cost and schedule control on our industrial projects. You will collaborate closely with project, operations, and field teams to help drive informed decisions and ensure successful project outcomes.

What You'll Do

  • Lead a multi-disciplinary project controls team encompassing scheduling and planning, estimating, cost-control, subcontract, and document control.
  • Collaborate with the construction/project manager and project team to proactively identify, handle, and resolve potential problems, work issues, or schedule challenges, developing and implementing recovery plans.
  • Analyze and communicate trending schedule, progress, and cost information to project personnel.
  • Supervise, direct, coach, train, and mentor the project team and superintendents on project controls, across single or multiple sites.
  • Communicate with project teams to define scope of work, identify needs for budget and schedule changes, and pinpoint variances from the original plan.
  • Participate in the project scope and change management process, ensuring accurate completion and issuance of estimates or impact analyses.
  • Provide active input for monthly cost and schedule reports and other key management reports.
  • Create weekly and monthly project progress reports.
  • Understand and interpret productivity rates, Own Forces Work (OFW), Labor Cost Reports (LCRs), and cost reports.
  • Adhere to established project control processes and procedures.

What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years of project controls experience within construction or a related field.
  • Experience mentoring others on scheduling and monitoring forecast resources at a high level.
  • An understanding of contract language and the ability to identify and mitigate risks while leveraging opportunities.
  • Working knowledge of engineering and construction management principles and practices.
  • An understanding of all project management functions, including scheduling and planning, cost control and forecasting, progressing, change management, and document control.
  • Working knowledge of estimating methods and practices.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and internal operational systems, with a commitment to staying current with technology.

Nice to Have

  • Construction trade certification with equivalent experience, or a post-secondary diploma or degree in construction management or engineering.
  • A relevant professional designation.
  • Experience working for a contractor.
