Role Overview
This position supports the effective management of employee benefits, including health, retirement, and wellness programs. The specialist ensures accurate administration, regulatory compliance, and clear communication to employees across all stages of the benefits lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day operations of benefits programs, including enrollment, changes, and ongoing support.
- Respond to employee inquiries, offering clear explanations of coverage options and assisting with life event updates and dependent verification.
- Partner with external vendors and carriers to resolve issues and maintain high service standards.
- Ensure adherence to federal and state regulations such as ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, IRS, and DOL requirements.
- Conduct data audits, generate reports, and assist with compliance tasks including non-discrimination testing, Form 5500 filings, and audit preparation.
- Support the launch of new benefits initiatives and wellness programs aimed at improving employee health and reducing costs.
- Manage monthly billing reconciliation and payment processing for benefits vendors.
- Contribute to HR projects and help improve processes related to benefits delivery and employee experience.
Qualifications
- At least two years of experience in benefits administration or a related HR function.
- Familiarity with federal and state regulations governing employee benefits.
- Strong organizational abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on clarity and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS platforms.
- High level of discretion when handling confidential information.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced setting.
- Reliable high-speed internet connection with Cable or Fiber infrastructure; Ethernet connectivity required. Minimum speeds vary by usage level, ranging from 70/30 Mbps to 1,000/100 Mbps.
Preferred Background
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience in HR generalist or compensation roles is advantageous.
