Role Overview
Manage the financial integrity of government-funded projects by maintaining accurate records, ensuring timely billing, and supporting audit readiness. This position acts as the bridge between finance and project management teams, ensuring financial data aligns with contractual obligations and project progress.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee accounts receivable and manage billing cycles for government contracts
- Conduct internal financial audits and support external audit preparation
- Develop and maintain detailed financial workbooks and reporting templates
- Analyze project costs, revenue variances, and unbilled balances to ensure accurate financial tracking
- Monitor project performance against established baselines and financial forecasts
- Prepare monthly financial reports required for government submission
- Process purchase requisitions for subcontractor labor and other direct costs
- Track accruals to reflect progress and financial status accurately
- Coordinate daily with finance staff, program managers, and contractor personnel
- Review contract documents, change orders, and modifications to ensure billing accuracy
- Prepare complete final invoice packages with supporting documentation for approval
- Identify and act on opportunities to improve billing efficiency and revenue capture
- Investigate unbilled items to maximize billing within each reporting period
- Report findings and actions to senior finance leadership
Required Qualifications
- Active SECRET security clearance
- Minimum of three years of experience in a government contracting environment
- Proven background with government contractor financial processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial modeling and analysis
- Experience using QuickBooks for accounting and financial reporting
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with project and finance teams
- Ability to prepare comprehensive invoice documentation with supporting backup
- Skill in identifying and resolving unbilled revenue issues
