The Production Operator I plays a key role in the Spray Dry department, ensuring efficient operation of machinery and equipment used in manufacturing and packaging processes. Working primarily on the 2nd or 3rd shift, this position follows production schedules closely and may be required to work overtime based on operational demands.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor production equipment to support the safe and accurate processing of flavor batches
- Follow shop floor documentation to prepare batches and verify correct materials and quantities
- Collect and interpret analytical data from spray dryers and related systems using tools such as particle size analyzers, pH meters, and Ro-Tap devices
- Ensure proper packaging and accurate backflushing of materials to maintain real-time inventory integrity
- Use ZFIS to cross-check packaging details and batch quantities against customer order requirements
- Operate sit-down and reach forklifts, both electric and gas-powered, to move materials safely
- Maintain strict sanitation standards in all work areas to support food safety and audit readiness
- Participate in cross-training initiatives to build broader operational knowledge
- Work independently, especially during off-shifts, and respond effectively to unexpected production situations
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Prior experience in process manufacturing, particularly with food-related products, is preferred
- Forklift certification is required
- Proficiency in GMPs, HACCP, SAP, Excel, and inventory control systems
- Ability to perform basic math calculations and manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand tools is a plus
- Physical ability to push/pull 400-pound drums and lift 50-pound bags as needed
