Thuma is hiring a Product Compliance Manager to ensure our products meet performance, quality, safety, and regulatory compliance standards across global markets. You will validate material and product performance, define quality and durability expectations, and manage testing strategies, supporting risk-based decisions as we expand into new product categories, materials, and constructions.
What You'll Do
- Partner with Product teams to define performance, durability, and quality standards for new and existing products.
- Develop and manage product and material performance validation strategies, including in-house and third-party testing.
- Evaluate product risk across new materials, constructions, suppliers, and categories, and recommend mitigation plans.
- Support design approval & pre-production readiness through performance and quality verification.
- Review test results and translate findings into clear recommendations for Design, Sourcing, and Leadership teams.
- Ensure all products are developed and launched in compliance with regulatory requirements and best-in-class safety standards.
- Own and manage product safety compliance processes, including testing, certifications, documentation, records and audits.
- Maintain an up-to-date grasp of regulatory changes and landscape, best practices, and new developments impacting Thuma products.
- Develop and maintain compliance checklists and testing frameworks aligned to product category and market.
- Develop / review / analyze status, issues, risks and dependencies, facilitate discussions, suggest escalation actions when needed, and drive resolution.
- Manage state licensing applications and renewals.
- Serve as the liaison with Sourcing, Legal, outside counsel, third-party labs, regulatory agencies and industry groups to ensure global compliance.
- Support Sourcing team in factory assessments, risk evaluations, and corrective action planning.
- Manage factory certification programs and compliance documentation.
- Ensure accurate, complete, and auditable supply chain records (test reports, GCCs, TSCA, MSDS, BOMs, etc.).
What We're Looking For
- 6+ years in product integrity, compliance, quality or performance testing, ideally within home furnishings or consumer products.
- Strong understanding of materials, constructions, and testing methods.
- Experience working with third-party testing labs and interpreting technical results.
- Comfortable balancing regulatory rigor with practical product development constraints.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects.
- Excellent communicator, especially with cross-functional and international partners.
- Sound judgement and comfortable making recommendations under ambiguity.
- Culturally aware and experienced working with global partners.
- Able to learn, be flexible, adapt to change, and grow with the organization.
- Willingness to travel.
Team & Environment
You will report to the Global Sourcing Director. The role involves close partnership with internal Legal, Sourcing and Product teams, external Legal counsel, third-party labs, vendors and suppliers, government agencies and relevant industry groups.
