The New York Times is hiring a Post Production Supervisor to lead Podcast Video post-production operations. You will oversee all aspects of the digital video post-production process for an expanding team, managing video editors and the edit calendar to support the weekly release of multiple podcast video episodes. This role reports to the Executive Producer of Podcast Video.
What You'll Do
- Manage the post-production team for video podcasts, including career development, feedback, and performance reviews.
- Set appropriate workflow and systems for managing post-production.
- Manage footage coming in from the field.
- Oversee archival footage storage, including maintenance and development of the media asset management system.
- Prioritize and oversee operational projects, managing deadlines, creating execution roadmaps, and coordinating with other departments.
- Manage graphics templates and software systems.
- Partner on post-production budgetary needs, including technology, tools, and hiring.
- Build training and one-sheeters for the team around post-production workflows and tools.
- Stay up to date with the latest post-production technology and bring forward solutions.
- Establish, communicate, and enforce workflow, editing style, and other protocols.
- Support post-production needs, including color and sound, and technical maintenance.
- Collaborate with our operations team to maintain technology.
- Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in journalism or a relevant organization managing operations and video post-production.
- 2+ years of experience managing direct reports.
- Experience managing post-production work, including setting up, overseeing, and improving systems to increase department effectiveness.
- Expertise with the Adobe Creative Cloud post-production software.
- Demonstrated experience with Media Asset Managers, preferably Mimir.
- Demonstrated analytical planning and project management skills, including the ability to identify strategic issues, frame and analyze problems, and implement solutions.
- Experience with project management tools such as Airtable and Miro.

- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-moving news environment while staying calm under pressure.
