This part-time Producer position supports programming operations for a leading radio station in Minneapolis. The ideal candidate will play a central role in shaping both on-air and digital content, ensuring high-quality production across live and recorded formats. Working closely with programming leadership, the Producer will manage technical elements, develop story ideas, and help coordinate guest segments and remote broadcasts.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce and edit audio content using industry-standard tools, ensuring alignment with station standards
- Operate broadcast equipment and manage live technical requirements during programming
- Support sports and talk show productions, including remote broadcasts and live call-ins
- Implement sound effects, commercials, and station identifications according to program logs
- Develop programming topics and assist in arranging guest interviews
- Use digital audio software such as Adobe Audition and Wide Orbit for editing and scheduling
- Engage with audiences through social media platforms including Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and Instagram
- Adapt quickly to breaking events and contribute coherent on-air commentary when needed
- Ensure compliance with FCC regulations and internal policies
- Attend promotional events and station appearances as required
Qualifications
Candidates must have at least three years of experience operating broadcast systems and developing content in a radio environment. Familiarity with control room workflows and a demonstrated ability to make quick, sound editorial decisions are essential. The role requires comfort with multitasking, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage shifting priorities independently.
Preferred candidates will have hands-on experience with audio editing software, particularly Adobe Audition and Wide Orbit, and prior work as a Producer or on-air contributor. A professional demeanor, adaptability to various shifts, and a commitment to inclusive, diverse storytelling are expected.
Work Environment
This is an onsite role based in Minneapolis, MN, with a flexible schedule that may include non-traditional hours. The Producer must be available to work assigned shifts and additional time as needed. Travel to local events and station appearances is required.
