Position Overview
An established legal team is seeking an Associate Counsel in San Antonio to handle the defense of first-party insurance claims in Texas state courts. This role plays a central part in managing litigation from initial pleadings through trial, offering legal opinions, and supporting claims resolution through strategic analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct legal research and draft motions, briefs, and memoranda to support case strategy
- Advise internal stakeholders on assessments of liability, damages, and case valuation
- Manage discovery processes, including drafting and responding to requests and conducting depositions
- Prepare for and represent the organization in hearings, trials, and examinations under oath
- Ensure case files are thoroughly documented with clarity and professionalism
Qualifications
Candidates must hold a Juris Doctor degree and be admitted to the Texas Bar in good standing. A minimum of two years of litigation experience, particularly in insurance defense or personal injury, is required. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to manage complex legal procedures, interpret statutes and case law, and communicate effectively across departments.
Additional requirements include the ability to travel as needed for court appearances, depositions, and meetings, as well as maintaining ongoing CLE compliance. Strong organizational, multitasking, and conflict-resolution skills are essential.

Compensation ranges from $104,550 to $185,525 annually, with additional incentives based on performance.
