About the Role

Bright Horizons is looking for a Privacy Paralegal to support the vision and mission of our Global Privacy Department. This remote position allows you to contribute to our culture of data confidence and digital trust from anywhere within the United States.

What You'll Do

  • Participate in internal and external privacy compliance governance and project meetings, including preparing minutes, formal records, and tracking follow-up actions.
  • Manage internal tracking systems, databases, and reporting requirements for the Privacy Department.
  • Support the development of privacy best practices across the business.
  • Oversee the department’s email box, ensuring timely responses, allocating support, and following up as needed.
  • Process invoices.
  • Manage the Privacy Department’s data subject rights requests, including processing requests, liaising with internal stakeholders, preparing responses, and developing/updating the OneTrust platform.
  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable global privacy rules and guidance for data subject requests and implement any legal changes into practice.
  • Manage the Privacy Department’s privacy incident process, including completing initial assessments, acting as a central point of contact, and ensuring remediation and follow-up actions are completed.
  • Implement the workflow through to completion for the documentation of processing activities, data protection impact assessments (DPIAs), and data protection agreements.
  • Support the administration and implementation of all Privacy-related policies, procedures, practices, and frameworks as requested.
  • Keep all privacy-related processes and associated policies up-to-date and easily accessible to the business.
  • Learn and keep up to date on the department’s privacy management platform, which is currently OneTrust.
  • Deal with ad hoc activities as assigned by members of the Privacy Department.

What We're Looking For

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience working as a paralegal.
  • Strong working legal knowledge of data subject rights under DPA, GDPR, and CCPA.
  • Experience managing with sole responsibility data subject access requests within an organization, including making legal determinations on processing requirements.
  • Ability to manage large workloads and execute plans from implementation to completion, including managing delivery by colleagues.
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality and efficient service, taking account of diverse customer needs and requirements when looking at ways to improve service quality.

Nice to Have

  • Working legal knowledge of privacy rights under CCPA/CPRA and GDPR.
