The Kentucky Community & Technical College System is hiring a Prison Education Program Tutor for Jefferson Community and Technical College. You will serve as an in-person tutor at prison education sites, providing academic support across a variety of subjects. Your role will focus on adapting instructional methods to individual learning styles and fostering academic confidence among students.
What You'll Do
- Provide one-to-one or small-group tutoring in person at prison facilities across multiple disciplines, including math, English, science, and reading.
- Collaborate with and support students in their learning by making content and learning more accessible.
- Assist students with understanding course concepts, building successful learning and studying habits, and developing a growth mindset.
- Complete required professional development and training for support in the tutoring role and work with prison program students.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor’s degree.
- Strong proficiency in at least two academic subject areas.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to explain complex topics in an accessible and engaging manner.
- Patience, adaptability, and a genuine desire to help students succeed.
Nice to Have
- Prior tutoring or teaching experience.
- Prior work with GED students and/or experience working with incarcerated or formerly incarcerated individuals.
Benefits & Compensation
- Compensation: $30.00 hourly.
Work Mode
This is an onsite position. Work locations include the Luther Luckett Education Center, the Kentucky Correctional Institute for Women, and the Roeder Correctional Complex.
