Wizards of the Coast is hiring a Principal Technical Product Manager to join the Skeleton Key studio. You will be responsible for Magic: The Gathering Arena’s Forge teams, which handle build and release pipelines, live environment management, and backend infrastructure. This role is based on-site in Renton, WA.
What You'll Do
- Serve as the Principal Technical Product Manager and Product Owner for the Forge teams, defining and executing the roadmap for Arena’s developer experience, delivery systems, and backend reliability.
- Translate internal customer needs into clear, actionable technical requirements to enhance scalability, stability, and developer velocity.
- Guide planning, prioritization, and management of technical projects and features, balancing short-term needs with long-term goals.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, QA, production, and platform partners to align Forge initiatives with broader technology and product objectives.
- Define success metrics and measure performance across build times, release reliability, and backend uptime.
- Champion best practices in automation, observability, and continuous integration/deployment.
- Communicate technical roadmaps, landmarks, trade-offs, risks, and mitigations effectively across technical and non-technical audiences.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as a Technical Product Manager, Product Manager, or Technical Program Manager in a software engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure environment.
- Strong understanding of cloud-native architecture and DevOps practices, including build and release pipelines, CI/CD systems, containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS), and cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to define and deliver technical roadmaps for complex engineering systems.
- Proven success in fostering multi-functional alignment across engineering, production, and operations.
- Analytical approach with the ability to evaluate trade-offs between speed, quality, and scalability.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to translate between technical details and business priorities.
- Deep curiosity for how tools, automation, and infrastructure can improve developer productivity and live service reliability.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Unity build pipelines or similar game engine environments.
- Background in live-service games or large-scale distributed systems.
- Hands-on knowledge of infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and observability tools (Datadog, Grafana, CloudWatch).
- Experience working with Jenkins, GitLab CI, TeamCity, or other sophisticated build/release automation systems.
