Workday is seeking a Principal HCM Consultant to join our State & Local Government team. You will be a seasoned HR expert responsible for the successful implementation of our Human Capital Management solution, providing product expertise, and guiding clients through configuration and testing.
What You'll Do
- Become an expert in the Workday HCM product suite, focusing on Benefits, Talent, and/or Recruiting functional areas.
- Elicit, document, and translate customer business requirements into system configuration.
- Configure the Workday solution to meet specific client needs and document the final solutions.
- Support data conversion and integration teams during data migration and third-party system testing.
- Assist clients with testing the Workday solution and transfer system knowledge for their production environment.
- Communicate project status, risks, and forecasts regularly with the Engagement Manager.
- Mentor consultants who are new to the Benefits, Talent, and/or Recruiting functional areas.
- Participate in update training and lead internal initiatives to improve team practices.
What We're Looking For
- 6+ years of experience implementing and configuring Workday HCM.
- 6+ years of experience with the operations and culture of State and Local Government or similar entities.
- 8+ years of broad HR experience in areas such as employee relations, talent management, or recruiting.
- 8+ years of specialized experience in at least one of the following: Talent development, Learning, or Recruiting.
- Ability and willingness to travel 50% or more of the time.
Nice to Have
- A self-motivated approach and initiative, with comfort managing multiple projects and long-term engagements lasting over 12 months.
- Experience working with diverse communities and populations to understand business practices and change impacts.
- Demonstrated project management experience and a proven track record of identifying efficiencies and completing initiatives.
- Excellent communication skills, comfort in a lead role speaking to all management levels, and strong business analysis abilities.
- Functional and technical experience, a passion for customer service, and the ability to learn technology quickly.
- Experience with multiple HCM applications, a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, and comprehensive product and industry knowledge.

You will work with an Engagement Manager and project teammates, reporting directly to the Engagement Manager.

- Primary Location Base Pay Range: $140,400 USD - $210,500 USD.
- Additional US Location(s) Base Pay Range: $133,300 USD - $236,800 USD.
