AECOM is hiring a Principal GIS Specialist

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deploy reliable spatial data architectures, analytical workflows, and web-based GIS applications using ArcGIS Enterprise, Online, Experience Builder, and dashboard tools, including Survey123 and Field Maps for field data collection.
  • Enhance efficiency and data integrity through automation with Python, ArcPy, FME (Form & Flow), ModelBuilder, and reusable processes, applying Arcade expressions when suitable.
  • Manage enterprise and file geodatabases, ensuring proper schema design, metadata, version control, security, and standards compliance; conduct technical evaluations for data accuracy and system scalability.
  • Perform advanced spatial analysis such as multi-criteria decision modeling for site evaluation and assist in developing digital twin applications.
  • Bridge GIS with engineering, environmental planning, CAD/BIM systems, SQL databases, APIs, and digital field data acquisition methods.
  • Collaborate with project leads and managers to align GIS deliverables, scope, and integration points with overall program goals; serve as GIS or Data Lead on complex, multi-disciplinary initiatives.
  • Enforce standardized procedures for documentation, metadata, quality assurance, and quality control, ensuring compliance with internal and client technical review protocols like TQR.
  • Assist in project planning, budget forecasting, resource allocation, and risk assessment, coordinating geospatial inputs across teams and geographic regions.
  • Act as primary technical contact for GIS on projects; help define project approaches, estimate costs, and contribute to technical proposals and methodology documents.
  • Foster long-term client partnerships with a focus on environmental sector requirements and delivering measurable value.
  • Advance the visibility of geospatial services through client workshops, technical papers, presentations, and participation in award submissions to support business development.
  • Lead, coach, and supervise team members, supporting professional development and career progression.
  • Create and disseminate reusable templates, solution patterns, and best practices; engage in technical forums and contribute to strategic planning and innovation.
  • Promote adherence to data governance, technical standards, reusability principles, and compliance with health, safety, environmental, and information management policies.
