Parsons Transportation Group is seeking a Principal Environmental Engineer to join our Environmental Practice group. This role supports and leads engineering assessments and related activities for a wide range of remedial design and construction projects, from initial investigation through final implementation and long-term management. You will apply advanced engineering techniques while developing project management and business acumen, with a path toward leadership.
What You'll Do
- Complete a variety of assignments, including preparing design drawings, technical specifications for procurement and construction, and developing work products for client and regulatory agency reviews.
- Review contract submittals and perform technical bid analyses.
- Prepare engineering computations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, surveys, and designs.
- Prepare and issue specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents.
- Provide the professional engineer's seal and signature as appropriate, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and regulations.
- Provide technical guidance to CAD Designers, Drafters, Designers, and junior-level Engineers.
- Support proposal efforts for new business opportunities.
- Provide mentorship and development for junior engineering staff.
- Interact with clients through technical presentations, meetings, and work product development.
- Collaborate and cross-sell with other Parsons engineering divisions, including Federal, Transportation, and infrastructure groups.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Typically 10+ years of related work experience.
- Professional Engineer registration is required for advancement.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong independent work ethic, flexibility to adapt to shifting client priorities, and eagerness to lead challenging, unique projects.
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately on complex engineering tasks.
- Familiarity with CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering.
- Ability to provide guidance to Project Designers utilizing this software.
- Willingness to occasionally travel to supplier, client, or construction site locations.
Nice to Have
- New York Professional Engineer registration strongly preferred, or ability/intent to obtain within 1 year.
- Consulting business acumen, or interest in developing it.
