AECOM is hiring a Principal Engineer - Solar PV (Renewables)

Lead the development and execution of solar photovoltaic (PV) plant designs across a range of scales, from kilowatt to megawatt installations. This role centers on delivering comprehensive engineering solutions for renewable energy projects worldwide, with a primary focus on technical leadership and system optimization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop complete PV plant layouts, including detailed design work for both small-scale and utility-grade systems
  • Create engineering drawings for all Balance of System (BoS) components up to medium voltage (MV) level
  • Perform electrical calculations for DC and MV AC systems, including grounding and lightning protection
  • Design DC string configurations, cable routing, and conduct sizing based on load and environmental factors
  • Develop SCADA system architecture for solar and hybrid power installations at MV level
  • Carry out shading assessments using geographic and solar path data to optimize energy yield
  • Prepare technical documentation, including bills of materials and equipment specifications
  • Support procurement by drafting requests for proposals for OEMs, EPC contractors, and O&M providers
  • Review technical submissions for PV equipment and EPC deliverables to ensure compliance and performance
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry advancements in solar PV systems
  • Produce detailed technical reports summarizing design rationale, system performance, and due diligence findings

Qualifications

Required expertise includes hands-on experience in PV plant design, electrical system calculations, and technical documentation. Proficiency in shading analysis, BoM preparation, and RfP development is essential. Familiarity with floating PV installations and hybrid energy projects across diverse geographic regions is preferred.
