Capital One is hiring a Principal Associate Software Engineer

Capital One is looking for a Principal Associate Software Engineer to join our International Card Tech team. In this role, you'll be at the heart of building backend customer management capabilities for millions of international Card users, transitioning from an account-centric to a customer-centric model.

What You'll Do

• Work on a variety of full-stack projects across infrastructure, tooling, platform engineering, developer experience, and data engineering.
• Create new applications using object-oriented programming methodologies.
• Follow a Test Driven Development (TDD) approach from inception to production.
• Explore and evaluate new and emerging software tools, technologies, and practices.
• Share your passion for tech trends, experiment with new technologies, participate in tech communities, and mentor other engineers.
• Support the professionalization of engineering through effective communication, public speaking, presentations, and documentation.
• Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions.
• Identify gaps and solve problems to completion.

What We're Looking For

• At least 4 years of hands-on experience in Application Development using at least one of: Java, Python, Scala, Swift, Kotlin, or Go.
• Bachelor's Degree.

Nice to Have

• At least 6 years of experience in Application Development.
• Master’s Degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Experience working in a team environment with a focus on mutual respect, empathy, and early problem escalation.
• Experience with Test Driven Development.
• Experience working in an Agile environment.
• Experience with AWS and/or an AWS Certification (Solution Architect-Associate preferred).
• Experience in distributed systems, API, microservices, data processing, databases (relational, NoSQL, or time-series), streaming or messaging platforms, DevOps, resilience, and stability.

You will be working on the International Card Tech team within Capital One Canada.
