The Rector & Visitors of the University of Virginia is hiring a Preservation Student Assistant to join the Library's Preservation Services team. This Federal Work Study position plays a key role in caring for the circulating collection, ensuring students and faculty have access to materials that support research and scholarship.

What You'll Do

  • Perform rounds to collect materials for the Preservation department.
  • Charge and discharge materials using the library's collections database.
  • Apply call number labels and duplicate barcodes.
  • Create title labels using Microsoft Word.
  • Measure materials for special enclosures ordered from an outside vendor.
  • Construct enclosures including pamphlets, tux boxes, and phase boxes.

What We're Looking For

  • Federal Work Study eligibility.
  • Ability to pass a background check.

This role is part of the Preservation Department within the University of Virginia Library.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Hourly wage of $16.71.

Work Mode

This is an onsite position located at the Shannon Library-Preservation Department, 160 McCormick Rd., Charlottesville, VA 22904.
