American Institutes for Research is hiring a Power BI Developer

Responsibilities

  • Lead the creation and ongoing management of Power BI assets including semantic models, reports, and dashboards for various business units and enterprise-wide use.
  • Collaborate with business and technical teams to convert requirements into actionable user stories, data specifications, and standardized reporting approaches.
  • Apply dimensional modeling techniques such as star schema and develop efficient DAX calculations to ensure high-performing and sustainable analytics solutions.
  • Develop and support data pipelines using Power Query, SQL, or Microsoft Fabric tools to consolidate data from Dynamics 365 and other systems.
  • Utilize Microsoft Fabric components like Lakehouse, Warehouse, and OneLake to build scalable and secure data architectures and semantic layers.
  • Ensure reliable data refreshes, monitor system performance, diagnose issues, and optimize BI solution efficiency.
  • Enforce security and governance standards including workspace organization, access controls, row-level security, data certification, and thorough documentation.
  • Support consistent delivery practices by participating in coding standards, peer reviews, and deployment processes across development, testing, and production environments.
  • Guide junior developers and assist business users through training, guidance on best practices, and support for report adoption.
  • Keep up with advancements in Microsoft’s analytics platform and suggest improvements that enhance system reliability, usability, and business impact.
  • Be prepared to adapt responsibilities as business priorities evolve.
