About the Role

Deutsche Telekom IT Solutions Slovakia is hiring a Postgres DB Senior Engineer to serve as a technical expert for building, monitoring, optimizing, and maintaining our Postgres database environments. In this role, you will analyze datasets, identify optimization opportunities, and validate technical approaches using data-driven methods.

What You'll Do

  • Administer, operate, and maintain Postgres environments.
  • Design, implement, and optimize database architectures.
  • Plan and execute installations, upgrades, migrations, and patching of Postgres DB.
  • Monitor performance and tune Postgres databases.
  • Implement backup & recovery strategies.
  • Troubleshoot database issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure availability, reliability, and high performance of database systems.
  • Support high availability and disaster recovery (HA/DR) configurations.
  • Create and maintain system and process documentation.
  • Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and operations teams.
  • Ensure adherence to security policies, compliance requirements, and audit standards.
  • Contribute to automation initiatives and continuous service improvement.

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with Postgres administration.
  • Strong understanding of Postgres architecture, components, and internal processes.
  • Practical experience with installation, configuration, maintenance, performance tuning, backup & recovery, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Solid knowledge of Postgres and ability to analyze and optimize complex queries.
  • Experience with Linux Server environment (administration basics required).
  • Analytical, systematic, and structured working style.
  • Strong teamwork, communication skills, and customer-oriented approach.
  • Ability and willingness to perform on-call duties.
  • English: Upper Intermediate (B2).

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Oracle or MariaDB.
  • Knowledge of High Availability solutions (AlwaysOn, Failover Clustering, Log Shipping, Mirroring).
  • Command-line / shell scripting skills.
  • Experience with support tools (e.g., PuTTY, monitoring dashboards, automation tools).
  • German language skills.
