Climate Catalyst is hiring a Policy Engagement Manager to lead our engagement efforts in Indonesia. In this role, you will be instrumental in driving the decarbonization of the steel sector by building trusted relationships, translating research into action, and convening critical stakeholders to advocate for effective policies and finance mechanisms. You will report directly to the Director of Indonesia.
What You'll Do
- Build and maintain relationships of trust with key government and private sector stakeholders.
- Synthesize findings from existing research to develop compelling briefs, slide decks, and articles for policy makers and industry.
- Create and implement detailed engagement plans to present findings and policy recommendations to key policy makers and their influencers.
- Convene private sector actors to solicit input and recommend policies that enable decarbonization.
- Participate in and organize events to expand our network of policy makers and influencers.
- Convene industry players and financial institutions to identify sustainable finance solutions for decarbonization investments.
- Engage directly with steel companies to share business cases and gather insights on challenges and opportunities.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in building high-trust relationships within government and industry.
- Strong communication skills for effective dialogue and presentations with policy makers and industry leaders.
- Demonstrated skill in synthesizing complex information from reports into compelling, audience-customized materials.
- A deep understanding of climate issues and the related policy landscape in Indonesia.
- Experience and comfort working across diverse regions, time zones, and cultures.
- Native proficiency in Indonesian and professional working proficiency in English.
- A collaborative team player with a low ego, focused on delivering the best results for the team and partners.
- A strategic thinker who actively listens, synthesizes complex information, and contributes to elevating team strategy.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of heavy industry decarbonization, particularly in iron and steel.
- An existing network of climate-related policy makers within the Indonesian government.
- An existing network within steel companies, industry associations, banks, and financial institutions.
