Shape the foundation of a next-generation integration platform that powers mission-critical aerospace operations. As a Platform Software Engineer, you'll play a central role in designing and evolving a secure, multi-tenant system that connects diverse partners through robust APIs and real-time data workflows.
What You’ll Do
- Lead architectural direction for APIs, event-driven services, and data pipelines, creating reference designs that guide long-term scalability.
- Build and maintain high-throughput, low-latency systems with comprehensive observability, error resilience, and validation.
- Design REST and GraphQL interfaces alongside event-based communication using Kafka, CloudEvents, and message queues.
- Ensure platform compliance from inception, aligning with NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, and DoD Impact Levels, and contribute to authorization-to-operate documentation.
- Develop and enhance the API Developer Hub, including lifecycle tooling, documentation, testing frameworks, and self-service onboarding.
- Integrate third-party models and simulations—including AI/ML and space operations software—with standardized tooling and clear integration patterns.
- Collaborate across engineering, security, product, and government stakeholders to deliver reliable, auditable systems.
- Mentor team members on integration best practices, operational rigor, and sustainable development pace.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of software engineering experience focused on enterprise integration or API platforms, with at least 2 years leading architectural design.
- Proven work with REST, GraphQL, event streaming (Kafka, queues), and contract testing.
- Hands-on experience with AWS services including API Gateway, Lambda, and EKS, and infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or CDK.
- Strong background in containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm) and CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or similar.
- Proficiency in Java/Kotlin, Python, and working with PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
- Experience implementing API security controls: rate limiting, secrets management, and key-based authentication.
- Track record of deploying AI/ML or LLM features into production-grade APIs.
Nice to Have
- Direct experience with federal compliance frameworks such as NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, or DoD ILs, especially in air-gapped or classified environments.
- Background in fast-paced startups or product-driven organizations.
- Familiarity with React for contributing to developer-facing frontend tools.
- Collaboration with SRE and DevOps teams on observability, infrastructure tooling, and reliable deployments.
- Experience testing integrations through contract and end-to-end test strategies.
- Exposure to space, aerospace, or simulation technologies such as HLA/DIS.
