Responsibilities
- Draw blood efficiently and gently, prioritizing patient comfort and sample precision.
- Gather, label, and store biological specimens following defined procedures.
- Process specimens using techniques such as centrifugation, freezing, and secure packaging for shipment.
- Confirm alignment between test requests and digital labels to ensure data integrity.
- Clearly communicate testing processes to patients and support collection of various sample types including blood, urine, and stool.
- Keep workspaces sanitized and safe through routine decontamination and equipment upkeep.
- Adhere strictly to safety standards set by OSHA and the Department of Environmental Protection.
- Accurately record and manage patient data with high attention to detail.
- Support workflow improvements by assisting with problem resolution, training new staff, and suggesting operational enhancements.
- Respond to patient phone inquiries and share lab results when authorized.
- Participate in mandatory departmental training sessions to maintain current knowledge and practices.
